The Kelly Grove Racing team took to Winton Raceway on Friday for their first official Supercars test day.
With a new teammate, David Reynolds and his new engineer, Alistair McVean; it was a fresh start for the Kiwi as he begins his fourth season with the Melbourne-based squad.
Hear what Heimgartner had to say:
"Overall, it was a really positive day to start working with Dave and Alistair McVean (Reynolds’ engineer) and to be back doing laps," Andre said.
"We didn't run any green tyres over the course of my 64 laps today.
"Obviously the earlier morning conditions were more suited to banking some quicker lap times before the afternoon heat made it tougher for a few drivers.
"Our focus today was always just on trying a few different things set up wise because there are new components in both cars.
"Fortunately, my hand is fine. I got through it pain free which is a pretty positive sign given that we have got a couple of longer races next weekend at Bathurst.
"So overall it was a very productive day. We will go back now and study some more of the data before heading to the Mountain which I'm really looking forward to that.”
The Supercars hit the track for the first round of the season at the Repco Bathurst 500 Feb 26-28.
