It has been two weeks since the previous round in Townsville, and teams have relocated to South Australia ahead of the next double-header at Tailem Bend. Andre Heimgartner is looking forward to getting back to it and is confident they can redeem themselves after a tough weekend at Townsville.
Although this will be the Mustang’s first official race meeting at The Bend, the #7 NED Whisky is no stranger to the circuit; having completed a test earlier in the year where Heimgartner showed impressive pace.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back to it this weekend,” admitted Heimgartner.
“We’ve had a good couple of weeks to recharge the batteries and I’m confident the guys have fixed up the engine issues, so I’ll be looking to give it a good crack this weekend.
“We obviously had the official test at The Bend at the start of the year and we showed good pace, so I’m hoping we can use the data from then as well as what we’ve learnt since and hopefully have a good run.
“Unlike some of the other rounds, we’re not going in completely blind and have some form of data to work with, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do.”
This weekend will host the first of the double header event at the South Australian circuit, which will be run on the regular International circuit, before switching over to the shorter West circuit the following weekend.
“Having the option to be able to change up the track and use the International circuit this weekend and then swap the next weekend to the shorter track is a great idea and obviously helps to keep the racing fresh,” said the Kiwi.
“The Bend is a world-class circuit and I always look forward to going there.”
The Supercars hit the track for practice one on Saturday 19th September at 9:10am local time.
